My name is Eri, a cellist living in Saitama, Japan. Many of you who have found this site likely have a traditional wolf eliminator whose rubber has become unusable, and are wondering if you can somehow obtain just the rubber part. I started making these rubber parts for the same reason. I searched both domestic Japanese sites and overseas sites, but simply couldn’t find them. Ultimately, I concluded, “If they aren’t sold, I’ll make them myself.” I then spent six months as an apprentice at a rubber processing manufacturer in Tokyo, learning the fundamentals of rubber fabrication. While continuing my cello playing, I began making these rubber parts for myself and friends. Word spread by word of mouth, leading me to start selling them domestically. Three years later, I launched this site to offer them at an affordable price to cellists worldwide.

The rubber parts for Gewa wolf tone eliminators are standardized at approximately 5mm thick with a roughly 0.8mm hole across the entire range, from violin/viola to contrabass. These are manufactured on a single production line and simply cut to different lengths for each instrument?a practical approach for cost-effective mass production (which is a reasonable business decision for any major manufacturer).
In contrast, I custom-craft each rubber part to be optimal for the specific instrument. For instance, I set the diameter for contrabass eliminators to 6mm with an approximately 1.7mm hole.
A 0.8mm hole is far too narrow for contrabass strings; it puts excessive stress on the rubber and causes it to deteriorate prematurely. For every part, I determine the hole size based on the standard gauge of the third string, while also ensuring compatibility with the fourth string.
I am also meticulous about the material itself. After testing 13 types of rubber from Japan, Taiwan, the US, Germany, and France, I selected the one that offers the least loss of resonance.
